Gardener trapped by rotavator

A GARDENER with severe leg injuries was taken to hospital after becoming entangled in the blades of a rotavator while working on his allotment.

Alfreton firemen were called out the scene on Bridle Lane, Leabrooks, this morning at 8.30am and used cutting equipment to free the man’s leg after it became trapped in the farm machinery which slipped from his truck.

The man, aged between 65-70 years old, was discovered by a fellow allotment user who alerted the emergency services. He suffered snapped fibula and tibia bones and was taken to the Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, as he was deteriorating at the scene.
