Dawson “left for a better place” on Friday, November 24.

The two-year-old’s plight captured people’s hearts after his parents, Wendy and David, of Warnadene Road, Sutton, launched a “dollar for Dawson” fundraising campaign to pay for pioneering treatment in America and raised £350,000

The family began the appeal after UK-based chemotherapy failed, but were eventually told by specialists in America that the treatment would not save their son.

The funeral will take place at Mansfield and District Crematorium at 3pm on Friday (December 15).

Anyone who supported Dawson is welcome to attend but the main chapel is for family and friends only.

A video link of the service will be screened in a second chapel.

Well-wishers are asked to wear normal funeral attire with “a touch” of green - the colour associated with the fundraising campaign.

Dawson’s parents would like only close family members to bring flowers. Anyone else wishing to pay tribute to Dawson is asked to make a donation to the A Dollar for Dawson appeal or a new charity called You Are My Sunshine.

More details about how to donate to the charities can be found at the A Dollar for Dawson Facebook page.
