Fun Fathers’ day at pub for charity trip

A Sutton student is organising a family fun day at the pub where he works to help fund a volunteering trip to Africa where he will be helping fight poverty.

Scott Bunting (19) is going to South Africa in July for 10 weeks with the global volunteering charity Lattitude ICS.

He will be living with a South African family and working on a project that uses sport to help disadvantaged young people.

In order to take part in the scheme, Scott needs to raise £800 and is organising a family fun day on Father’s Day, Sunday 15th June, at the King and Miller pub - where he works part-time - to set him on the way to meeting this target.

Scott, who is studying sports coaching and fitness at Central College in Nottingham, said: “I will be volunteering for 10 weeks on a development programme in Southern Africa.

“This is part of International Citizen Service (ICS), which brings young people together to fight poverty and make a difference where it is needed most.

“I’ll be working alongside volunteers from Southern Africa on a project that uses sport to engage disadvantaged young people and empower them to create better, more positive futures for themselves through life skills sessions delivered through sports-based activities.”
