Fun and festivities coming to Glapwell carnival

Vibrant floatillas and costumes will parade the streets of Glapwell next weekend.

It will be the village’s third carnival after a gap of more than 20 years.

And the spectacular event is sure to make a scene on 15th September .

There will be around five floats leading the parade followed by a flash mob and festival goers adorned in fancy dress.

Matthew Wolfendon from Emmerdale and winner of skating on ice will be making a guest appearance to crown the carnival queen.

The float parade will begin at 11.30am from the village centre leading down to Glapwell Cricket Ground where most of the events throughout the day will take place.

There will be a military band leading the parade and for the first time in 20 years carnival queen Shannon Wagstaff will be crowned at the carnival.

There will also be a host of other activities for festival goers to enjoy and a variety of charity stalls.

To add to the musical atmosphere Nicole Marie, who made it through to the judges home on X factor will be giving a live performance.

As well as all the carnival shannanigans, the village scarecrow festival will give villagers the chance to dress their crows to the nines and crowned winner.

Crows will be displayed around the village in resident’s gardens for the public to enjoy.

Throughout the day there will be archery, dance performances from Razmataz and Bolsover Girls Dance Group.

There will be fun for all the family with face painting, a dog show and donkey rides.
