To start the New Year, trent barton is offering free Sunday bus travel between 10 and 11am on every Sunday in January – this applies to everyone and no passes are needed.

All you have to do is catch a trent barton bus between those times and your journey is free. Not all trent barton routes operate on Sundays, but that still leaves you with ‘the threes’ to Hucknall and Nottingham , or ‘the nines’ to Alfreton, Ripley or Derby.

Unfortunately the ‘pronto’ service is not included in this offer as it is a jointly operated service with Stagecoach.

Meanwhile Stagecoach East Midlands is now offering a new way to buy and use your Stagecoach Megarider passes.

‘StagecoachSmart’ is an electronic card with a chip that stores your Stagecoach pass for use on the bus. Once you have a StagecoachSmart travel card, you can use it again and again. When you buy your Megarider pass, it is loaded on to your StagecoachSmart travel card instead of a paper ticket. You can buy your Megarider pass online and even set up a monthly direct debit.

Each time you get on a Stagecoach bus in the East Midlands simply place the card on the card reader on the top of the ticket machine.

The machine will check that you have a valid ticket for the journey, and show you a green light to tell you that you can board. For more information and to set up an account, go to www.stagecoachsmart.com.

There may be delays on some trent barton services to and from Derby due to road works at the Little Eaton island on the A38 near Derby. The road works start on January 6th and are expected to last for 13 weeks. Services affected will include ‘the nines’ (Mansfield to Derby), amberline (Derby to Hucknall) and the ‘red arrow’ (Nottingham to Derby and Chesterfield).

During January, there will be some alterations to Stagecoach services in the Chesterfield area. This includes service 77 Chesterfield to Worksop.

Finally Eastwood local services operated by yourbus have now all been combined into one circular route numbered 101. From January 20th this route will be numbered Y10 and Moorgreen, Church Road and Engine Lane will no longer be served.
