PARENTS and carers in Derbyshire are being invited to sign up for free courses offering advice on the ups and downs of family life with children and teens.
The courses, called Living with Children - for those with children aged up to eight and Living with Teenagers - for those with children aged 9-15, are for parents and carers who may want some reassurance or support with their parenting.
Course organiser Jane Hawley, a specialist health improvement practitioner for Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust, said: “Being a parent or carer can be hard work at times. Most families will face challenging behaviour from their children at some point, so it can be useful to know where to turn to for help and support.”
The course focuses on improving parents’ communication, confidence and self-esteem as well as improving boundary setting and discipline skills.
Locally, The Living with Children course, which lasts six weeks, will be held at Somercotes Parish Hall on Wednesday 22nd February, 12.45 to 2.45pm.
