Free entry for heritage fans

A host of popular visitor attractions around Nottinghamshire are opening their doors for free this month as part of the Heritage Open Days scheme.

There are numerous heritage events on offer throughout the county over the four-day event, which runs from 11th to 14th September.

Some of the highlights include free entry to the Workhouse, at Southwell, on 13th September, where visitors can explore the most complete workhouse still in existence.

Ever-popular Wollaton Park, Nottingham Castle and Newstead Abbey will be open for free on 13th and 14th September as part of the scheme run by Experience Nottinghamshire.

There is also free entry to the Galleries of Justice on September 14th and DH Lawrence Heritage on September 13th and 14th.

Keen photographers are invited to get involved in a competition, which runs until 30th September.
