FREE dog health checks in Bolsover area

Dog owners across the Bolsover District are being urged to take advantage of free wellbeing checks and microchipping for dogs as a mobile pet checking unit is touring the area in May.

The PDSA Health Check Roadshow will take to the streets between 20th and 23rd May to offer free wellbeing checks for dogs – including weight, eyes, teeth, ears, coat condition and general fitness, all undertaken by an experienced veterinary nurse. Information on the care of other popular pets will also be available.

Coun Dennis Kelly, cabinet member for the Environment at Bolsover District Council, said: “As you can see from the figures, these roadshows are extremely popular with our local residents.

“It gives people the chance to get their pets health checked out, have a chat with the professionals about any concerns they have and also pick up some useful tips on animal behaviour and ownership – all free of charge.”

In addition to the veterinary nurse, the Council’s Dog Warden will be on hand to provide free dog microchipping – something which will become compulsory for all dogs in 2016.

The sessions take place on 20th May at Bolsover Business Park, Woodhouse Lane, and The Hub car park, Shiners Way, South Normanton (from 10am to 5pm) on 23rd May.
