Free career advice for Mansfield and Ashfield A-level students

WHETHER its congratulations or commiserations, students receiving their A-Level results can receive free expert careers advice on what to do next.

Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Futures offers careers advice in the city, county and beyond about apprenticeships, university, resitting exams, job hunting and applications.

A-Level students will receive their results on Thursday, 15 August and many will be unsure of their next steps.

Michelle Wright, operations director at Futures, said: “A-Level students may have received higher grades than expected or could be disappointed with their results. But it is important that they realise they don’t have to make any decisions about their future alone.

“Our personal careers advisers have the skills, experience and expertise to help and can talk to young people about their options.

“Studying for A-Levels can be a stressful time, but there is no need to panic whatever results young people receive. Our experts can talk to them and offer advice and guidance about the way forward.”

Young people can speak to careers advisers and receive the help they need at the Futures Careers Centre on Maid Marian Way in Nottingham.

The centre has all the information, advice and guidance students need to help make informed decisions and decide what their next steps could be.

Up to date information is available for students about courses in further or higher education, apprenticeships and other options. They can talk to trained staff and think about employment areas that they may be suited to, consider employment or training vacancies and get help planning a year out before continuing their studies.

Futures is also hosting Futures Apprenticeship Days to give students who have completed their A-Levels advice about apprenticeships. Young people who have completed their A-Levels can talk to an adviser about apprenticeship vacancies and apply for any they’re interested in.

Students who have changed their mind about going to university or are planning to get a job but haven’t found one yet, can go along to either of the days held at the Futures Careers Centre at 57 Maid Marian Way, Nottingham on Thursday 22 August and Thursday 29 August. Those attending can drop in any time between 11am – 3.30pm.
