Four arrested after violence erupts in Mansfield street

Police have made four arrests after a violent incident in Mansfield ended in one man suffering knife wounds.

Two men aged 23 and 31 and two teens both aged 17 Today were arrested today (Sunday, October 30) on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

The arrests follow reports of a violent incident involving a number of males in Smith Street, Mansfield, on October 29, resulting in one man being taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.

All four remain in police custody.

At around 1.45pm yesterday officers arrived in the area of Newgate Lane and Eakring Road, and found a man believed to be the victim of an assault with potentially life threatening injures.

Officers said: "It is thought these injuries have been caused by a knife. He was taken to hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition."

"A police investigation into exactly what took place is underway.

"We believe this to be an isolated incident but as you might expect, there may be an increased police presence in the area as officers conduct their work and also keep members of the community informed.
