Skeletal remains were recovered from the property at 2 Blenheim Close last week and police say post-mortem examinations have so far failed to identify the remains or lead to a conclusive cause of death.

The detectives leading the investigation confirmed they believed the remains to be those of Patricia and William Wycherley, who lived at the address from 1987 and ‘vanished’ in the late 1990s.

Det Chf Insp Rob Griffin, who is leading the investigation, said: “We know that they were a reclusive couple who kept themselves to themselves. I am confident the skeletal remains are those of William and Patricia.”

Police are now appealing for anyone who knew the couple or lived in the vicinity of Blenheim Close from 1990-2005 to come forward.

Further forensic examinations are due to be carried out today.
