Footy fan fined for refusing to leave town

A football fan ended up in court after behaving in a threatening manner in Mansfield after England lost their first World Cup game on 15th June.

Luke Joshua Sandor (21) of George Street, Mansfield, was arrested by police after he was seen behaving in an aggressive and drunken manner outside a number of pubs in the town centre, Mansfield Magistrates’ Court was told on Wednesday, 2nd July.

The court heard that police had twice issued Sandor with a dispersal notice, but was arrested after he threw it to the floor.

Defence lawyers said Sandor had been out “celebrating” the England game and had too much to drink.

He was fined £150 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £25 victim surcharge.
