Football star Jermaine Jenas fined by Mansfield Magistrates

Thirty-year-old Jenas was caught out driving at 37mph in a 30mph zone on Nottingham’s London Road in November last year.

The Nottingham-born player, of Barnet, Hertfordshire, was convicted in his absence this morning (Monday).

Miss A Croft, prosecuting on behalf of Nottinghamshire Police, said the force tried to contact Jenas on numerous occasions to establish the driver’s identity but received no response.

A legal advisor to the magistrates confirmed that the footballer had a full licence with no endorsements.

As well as the fine, Jenas was also given six penalty points, ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £60.

Jenas, who shot to fame during his time at Forest, had his first season at the City Ground and went on to play for various Premiership teams including Newcastle United and Tottenham.

He now plays for London championship side Queen’s Park Rangers.
