Food for thought as kids grill MP on future of Warsop

Mr Bradley was invited to Birklands Primary to see how the school is developing links with the local community.

And as part of the visit, he took part in a question-and-answer session with pupils who are members of the school’s council.

He was put on the spot several times by children who wanted to know what he had done for Warsop since being elected, and how he felt the town could be improved.

But they were impressed with his answers. One year-four councillor said: “I found his answers really interesting. He does want us to help improve Warsop.”

Birklands’ head teacher Celia Smith said the visit was a good opportunity to showcase some of the community projects the schools is involved in. These included tree-planting and buying a chicken coop.

The MP also chatted with the chairman of the school’s parent teacher organisation and one of its governors over a plate of pie and peas, which was served as part of a special Father’s Day event at Birkland.

Mr Bradley said he enjoyed the visit and added: “I always love visiting primary schools, such as Birklands, and seeing the passion the teachers have for supporting the students there.

“It was particularly interesting to see them trying innovative ways of teaching and looking to offer different experiences and opportunities for the children.”
