Flypast confirmed for both days of Garden and Craft Festival

The RAF Battle of Britain Memorial flypast will take place both days at this year's Garden and Craft Festival next month.

The annual festival, organised by Mansfield BID, takes place in a large marquee and is held over the weekend, Saturday September 3 and Sunday 4.

Sue Rogers, event organiser at Mansfield BID said: “This year is a special year for The Trustees for the Allotments for the Labouring Poor who commission the garden & craft festival, as they celebrate 100 years of looking after the charity and providing allotments.

“To mark this important milestone we applied to the RAF for them to perform a flypast sometime over the weekend. We never expected to have both days confirmed”.

The event is free and is open to the public from 11am to 3pm. It also hosts a market, entertainment, free prize draws and children’s activities with 100 free special vegetable goody bags to make a tasty soup.

The flypasts will take place around 2.30pm on Saturday by a Spitfire and a Hurricane and at 2.35pm on Sunday by a Spitfire.

Each day will see three passes – so don’t forget to look to the skies to see an iconic Spitfire and Hurricane fly over your town.
