Flower power to brighten Rainworth

RAINWORTH will be awash with colour again this year as councillors have agreed a budget of £2,000 to pay for flower baskets to brighten up the village. The floral displays will hang from lamp posts and were paid for using the parish precept.

Coun Linda Tift, Rainworth Parish Council chairman, said: “Last year we were given some three tier planters for the bottom of Warsop Lane and some for the Spar and these were so successful we want to do something similar again.”

During a meeting councillors also received notification from Nottinghamshire County Council that the village will be appraised to see which areas are suitable to have street lights switched off at certain times of night as part of a money-saving strategy.
