ONE motorist was left to count the cost after trying to negotiate the swollen ford at Rufford yesterday morning (Sunday).
The Ford Focus was left stricken in the floodwater after the driver attempted to drive through the ford at around 7.30am.
It is understood the driver escaped uninjured. The road was closed at the time because of the rising waters at the ford.
Yesterday, motorists faced delays as a number of roads across the area were affected by flooding - including the MARR route from Abbott Road to Pleasley, Sookholme Road, near Sookholme, and the A60 at Church Warsop.
Meanwhile, the Environment Agency on Monday said that flooding continues to affect low-lying properties at Church Warsop, including Warsop Mill and The Mill House.
At 4.38am this morning, the current levels at the Church Warsop river gauge was 0.6 metres.
But forecasters say more rainfall is expected over the next 12 hours, with possibly up to 10 milimetres expected.
