FLOOD WARNINGS: High waters hit Mansfield roads

Floods have hit Mansfield as numerous reports of disruption due to high water emerge.

High waters have caused disruption around Pump Hollow Road, Clipstone Road West and cars are said to be stranded at Mill Lane in Kirkby.

Mansfield District Council warned of possible flooding across the county, with an alert for the River Maun through Mansfield and Ashfield.

The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the area.

They said: "Flooding of low-lying agricultural land and roads is possible at Mansfield, The Sherwood Forest Caravan Park at Clipstone, Edwinstowe, Ollerton, Whitewater Lane at Whitewater Bridge and West Drayton.

"The current level at the Mansfield The Dykes river gauge is 1 metres and river levels are rising in response to today's rainfall. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 12 hours, with totals of around 15 to 20 millimetres expected."

The agency tweeted earlier today: "Our teams are out across the Midlands clearing debris & keeping rivers flowing."

Water height for the River Maun have hit 1.14 metres of water, with flooding expected at around 1.40. The Mansfield flood station usually measures around 0.6 metres.
