Firefighters tackle large fire at Mansfield area sawmill

Nottinghamshire fire service say ten fire engines are at the scene of a blaze at a Blidworth timber firm.

Emergency services and firecrews are tackling the fire at Cross Lane which was reported at 8am this morning.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area and residents told to keep doors and windows closed.

Fire crews say they will be at the scene for a “considerable time” with Nottinghamshire crews being assisted by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service as well as Nottinghamshire Police.

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service tweeted: "We have 10 fire engines at a timber workshop Cross Lane, Blidworth.

"We also have a high volume pump vehicle, an aerial ladder platform.

"We are being assisted by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and Notts Police also.

"The building is well alight and we will be detained some considerable time."

Crews from Blidworth, Mansfield, Ashfield ARnold, Edwinstowe, Hucknall, Stockhill, Warsop Chesterfield Long Eaton and Alfreton are in attendance at the blaze.
