Firefighters tackle blaze at Sutton magnesium processing plant

Firefighters from Ashfield and Mansfield were called to extinguish a fire at a magnesium processing factory at Sutton this morning.

Crews took around four hours to deal with the blaze at Meridian Lightweight Technologies, on Orchard Way, which was reported at 4.09am

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Fire and rescue said nobody was hurt in the fire which started in a magnesium die-casting machine.

Two engines from Ashfield and one from Mansfield were needed to deal with the fire.

Firefighters with breathing apparatus used dry powder hoses and infra red cameras during the incident.
