Mansfield fire fighters were sent out to wasteland near Sherwood Avenue when they received a call at 6.44pm yesterday (August 28) to say the cabin was alight.

One crew attended the scene and two breathing appliances were used.

They used a hose reel jet to bring the flames under control.

Mansfield watch manager Ian Edmunds, who was in charge of the incident, said the cabin was left “severely damaged” by the fire.

He believes the fire could have been started deliberately and thinks it could have been a small indoor fire that got out of control.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said nobody was injured.
