A blaze broke out last night at a painting and fabricating unit in Kirkby.

Crews from Ashfield and Mansfield were called to the scene on Clover Street where it was thought it had begun in a spray booth.

An adjacent building used as a carpet warehouse was heavily smoke logged.

The firefighters were at the scene for almost two hours, using breathing apparatus, a main jet, hose reel jets and a 13.5 metre ladder to help tackle the blaze.
