Some lucky Mansfield residents are set to be at least £500 richer after the weekend – as the People’s Postcode Lottery comes to town.

Last week it was announced that players in the postcode sector NG18 3 were guaranteed a cash prize – and today it has now been confirmed each resident with a winning ticket will pocket at least £500.

On Saturday, July 30, lucky winners will find out how much they have won at a cheque presentation in Mansfield’s Fisher Lane Park.

The full winning postcode will also be revealed on the day – with players with that postcode walking away with the lion’s share of the prize.

With a minimum of
30 per cent of Lottery sales going to good causes across Great Britain and internationally, players of the People’s Postcode Lottery have so far raised more than £129.9 million for charities and good causes.

Social enterprise Untapped Resource, based on Botany Avenue, Mansfield, recently benefited from a payment of £1,990 from the Lottery, toward its Get Crafty project.

The enterprise, which opened in 2009, aims is to support long-term unemployed people to move toward secure work, while, at the same time, reducing the amount of valuable resources going to landfill sites.

Teresa Jackson, Untapped Resource director, said: “Our charity supports unemployed people into work and helps businesses better recycle their waste.

“Funding from players of the People’s Postcode Lottery has enabled us to go into the community and into schools to educate young people about the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling.

“Without the support from the Lottery, none of that work would have been possible, so, on behalf of our entire team, thank you.”

Judie McCourt, People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador, said: “With only a few days to go now until our postcode millions announcement in Mansfield, excitement is certainly building.”
