Find out more about fostering at Mansfield event

A LEADING not-for-profit fostering agency is calling on anyone interested in finding out more about foster care to attend a special event in Mansfield.

Team Fostering, which has branches in the North East, Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire, is holding a free open event at Mansfield Civic Centre, on Tuesday, 13th March, when staff will be joined by existing foster carers and social workers to chat to anyone interested in becoming involved.

Team Fostering recently opened its first Nottinghamshire branch at the Mansfield i-centre, Oakham Business Park, Hamilton Way, Mansfield, which will not only provide support for existing foster carers in Nottinghamshire but also encourage people considering fostering to come forward.

The agency is looking for people, single or married, who have a spare bedroom and could offer a child understanding, guidance and support. In the case of couples, only one person needs to be available on a full time basis.

Foster carers must enjoy looking after children and young people and be able to provide them with a nurturing positive family environment where they will be valued and encouraged to achieve their full potential.

Team Fostering Assistant Director Paul Dempsey said: “There are so many children and young people in the Mansfield area in need of a foster home, I would urge anyone who’s even slightly curious to come along and find out more.”

“The Open Day will provide the perfect opportunity to speak to foster carers and find out more about the guidance, services and support offered by Team Fostering.”

The organisation, which has provided foster care placements for young people in local authority care throughout the North East and Yorkshire for the last 10 years, has no shareholders and no profits are distributed.

Instead, any surplus is re-invested back into the business to provide extra support for children and young people, equip foster carers with extra services and competitive rates of pay and ensure local authorities receive value for money services.
