WHAT makes Mansfield special for you? It could your favourite pub or a hobby or place which brings back memories.

Whichever it is you can now tell folk about it in a short film.

Vision West Notts has teamed up with Chad, the Mansfield Business Improvement District (BID) and Linney Group to launch the I Heart Mansfield Film Festival.

You can use anything from a mobile phone to a video camera to make your 30-second to three-minute film which can take any form – from a play to a documentary or simply speaking on camera.

A judging panel will choose the best clips which will be turned into a 45-minute film called I Heart Mansfield.

This inspirational film will be premiered at the college’s Create Theatre – a brand new 150-seat performance and media theatre where winners will be given the full red carpet treatment.

The first public screening will be in the Market Place as part of the Olympiad Cultural Events Week between 7th and 14th July.

Also, a host of great prizes are up for grabs including an iPad 2, iPod Touch, camcorders and digital cameras. Entries close on 30th March.

Vision West Notts media tutor Michael Rhodes said: “There’s certainly no shortage of things to capture on film in Mansfield.

“The district has a bustling town centre, a vibrant social scene, some fabulous architecture, picturesque parks, woodlands and countryside and a rich cultural and industrial heritage.

“Or you could film something you particularly enjoy doing in Mansfield, either by yourself or with friends or family.”

Your film could include:

Hanging out with your friends at your local skate park

Shopping or socialising in the town centre

On the terraces at Field Mill

Enjoying a woodland walk

A local club or association you belong to.
