Festivities as Santa lights up Ollerton

It will be beginning to feel a lot like Christmas on Friday, December 6th, when Ollerton kicks off celebrations with its lights switch-on.

Sherwood Drive in New Ollerton will be closed to traffic for the day to host a traditional Christmas street market where local traders and community groups will be selling festive food, gifts and crafts from noon to 7.30pm.

A stage outside the town hall will come alive with music from 4.30pm when choirs from local primary schools will perform in the build-up to the switch on itself at 6pm, carried out by Santa Claus.

There will be a funfair, carols led by Dukeries Community Band, and a free Santa’s grotto.

The town hall will be open from noon for local senior citizens to pop in for a free tea or coffee and a mince pie.
