FOLK will be able to try their hand at a host of sporting activities in the run-up to the Active Ashfield Games and Ashfield Festival.

The free weekly, coaching sessions take place across Ashfield until June in athletics, gymnastics and hockey - giving participants the chance to take part in competitions at the Active Ashfield Games opening ceremony at Ashfield School on 30th June.

Ashfield Festival is on 7th July at Sutton Lawn when the Active Ashfield Games awards ceremony will take place.

The festival will include a Xtreme sports, athletics, football, It’s a Knockout, Angling, skating and much more. It will also include favourites from the Ashfield Show such as a dance zone, music stage, funfair, trade and charity stalls.

Said deputy leader John Wilmott: “The coaching sessions will provide an opportunity to try out sport in a fun and friendly environment.

“The Active Ashfield Games Opening Ceremony will kick off an exciting week of sport and culture for the residents of Ashfield to get involved in and enjoy.”
