Family run firm raise charity cash

Staff at a Mansfield firm have handed over charity cheques totalling £1,000 after a fundraising drive.

Plastek UK Ltd, based on Crown Farm Way, Mansfield, handed over £500 to Sutton-in-Ashfield’s John Eastwood Hospice and another £500 to Help For Heroes.

Staff came together and bought raffle tickets and made donations at a Christmas buffet lunch to raise as much as possible for the deserving charities.

Mick Shaw, general manager said: “Plastek is an ethical company, we are still family owned, and we like to think that we can support our local community, not just through the jobs we offer, but in a wider sense.

“I am really pleased that we could help in as small way to such a deserving cause.”

Plastek UK Ltd, who employ approx 150 people at their site in Mansfield were certainly surprised how enthusiastic a response they got from suppliers and employees alike. One of the main organisers, Donna Baker, food safety team leader, said: “We really appreciate all of the generous donations given to us by our suppliers.
