Family of young man found dead in Alfreton pay tribute to their ‘beautiful’ boy

The family of a young man who was found dead in Alfreton in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday has paid tribute to their “beautiful” boy.

Police discovered the body of Halcyon Theuri, 20, of Oakerthorpe, on Wingfield Road at 3.55am after receiving a 999 call.

He had suffered head injuries.

His mum Faith and stepfather Andi, from Selston, described him as their “beloved son”.

They added: “We write with broken hearts and will forever miss him.

“He has been ripped from our lives, only as it had just started.

“Our only strength is in God through Jesus. He was our beautiful boy and always will be.”

Halcyon leaves behind his parents and a younger brother and sister.

A 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

He has been questioned by police and released on bail pending further investigations.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said: “The investigation team is appealing to anyone who was in the area of the A615 Oakerthorpe to Alfreton road between 3am and 4am that morning to contact them.

“Also, if anyone has noticed any damage to a car that may have happened overnight, they are asked to contact police on 101.”
