Extreme Movember riders

Riders at a Huthwaite skate park donned moustaches for a competition in aid of men’s health campaign Movember.

The hairy bikers helped raise more than £100 in donations and saw 10 per cent of their entry fee go towards the cause, which raises funds and awareness of testicular and prostate cancer and mental health.

Kayley Ashworth, general assistant at Asylum Skatepark, Fullwood Road North, said the Movember Jam event was great fun.

She added: “We even got girls involved who had eyeliner moustaches painted on. We had some comedy trophies made for various winners - like a lad who rode with a fishing rod and a beard.

“It was quite hilarious - we had a local lad who has ginger hair but had to paint his moustache on or it would have come out blond.”

Asylum, which opened just three months ago, boasts a number of different ramps for its visitors.

These include a flat bank, street section, jump box rhythm section, pipes and spines.

Said Kayley: “We have a steady flow of local coming but we have also had people from as far away as Manchester and Liverpool.

“We use social media to promote the park but it would be great to let more of the community know we are here.”

“We would really like to do more to support the local area so if there are any community groups out there who want to use the facilities we would be more than happy to help.”
