Jennifer Spencer, Chief Executive of Experience Nottinghamshire, said: “We are urging local residents to help put Nottinghamshire on the tourism map by uploading their suggestions to VisitEngland’s Hall of Fame App or webpage. Nottinghamshire has many claims to fame – from the home of the Mansfield Pudding, as made famous by Mrs Beeton to home of literary legends Lord Byron and D.H. Lawrence - they have all helped to shape the county into the great place it is today.”

Anyone that nominates or later votes for a claim will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a weekend break away. The deadline for entries is 23rd March 2014. The hundreds of submissions will then be shortlisted down to a final 60, 10 per category. The app will re-open to the public vote on 1st April to establish the final Hall of Fame, which will be announced on 23 April, St George’s Day.

Submissions can be made by visiting www.englandshalloffame.com or by using the app on VisitEngland’s Facebook page.
