Exciting curriculum for Ashfield school

Skegby Junior Academy has introduced a new curriculum which focuses on providing entertaining and engaging lessons for its pupils.

Under this new system, children are asked what they already know and what interests them.

This enables teachers to focus learning so that pupils are more engaged.

An example of this has been Year 3 and 4 pupils learning about the Stone Age by building structures that would transport large items just like the people at that time would have needed to build Stonehenge.

Pupils’ opinions are considered through their weekly ‘Voices for sharing’ meetings.

The Academy has also purchased new resources to support the curriculum, including a mathematics resource called Numicon is helping pupils to understand how numbers work and a flock of six chickens are supporting the teaching of science and food technology...each class is deciding what to name them!
