A Sutton primary school is set to have a brand new building - as well as a new nursery.

Leamington Primary & Nursery Academy, on Clare Road, has applied for the changes - which could be given the green light next week.

Along with the new two-storey building there will be extra car parking, cycle parking, playground and grassed areas.

It will also incorporate a full time nursery for 60 children.

Head of the academy Emma Hanson said it was a really exciting time for the school.

“It’s all brilliant news and as soon as the application goes through we will have a starting date.

“The children are so excited about this new development, and keep coming up with suggestions which is great,” she said.

She hopes the building will be completed by Easter 2016.

“It’s also going to be great learning tool, as the children will see how it is built and all the stages it goes through.”

The application was sent to Ashfield District Council, and a decision is set for 18th March.
