After completing basic training for the Women’s Royal Air Force back in 1974, one woman hoped to catch up with her friend at the WRAF reunion.
Gillian Luckett, nee Bolton, was left disappointed when she attended a reunion of ex-service women and her friend, whose name was also Gillian and maiden name Partridge was not there.
Both the Gillians met in April 1974 at basic training down in Hereford which lasted for six weeks.
“In those days there were no phones or anyway of communicating with people back at home and who you trained with became your family,” said Gillian.
“I’m 60 now so I guess she would be about 58.”
Gillian Partridge had a brother and sister the address her friend had for her was 148 Crompton Road, Mansfield.
“I had two children and the last time I saw would have been in the early 80s after she married Dennis Goundry and took his name.
“When I went to the reunion I wanted her to be there but she wasn’t but it got me thinking about how much I missed her and would like to see what she is up to nowadays.”
