THORESBY Estate Pierrepont Settlement was awarded second place in the Royal Forestry Society’s Silviculture award 2011.

Judges were impressed by the management of the site and praised the estate foreman George Clarke, who has worked there for more than 40 years

Woodward for the Trustees of Pierrepont Settlement, Tim Hill, said: “His knowledge and expertise has kept traditional estate skills alive, whilst at the same time we are adapting to challenges and opportunities of woodland management in the 21st Century.

“We are very much an outward - looking organisation and provide forestry services to a range of local landowners, as well as within the estate.”
