Enjoy a day of racing at Chad’s Family Fun day

THE only long faces will be among the horses when Southwell Racecourse hosts Chad’s Family Fun Day on 10th July.

We have teamed up with racing bosses to offer readers a great offer of two-for-one entry into the Grandstand enclosure at the spectacular venue.

And to make the deal even sweeter for families with younger children, under-18s can enter absolutely free.

The racecourse is designing the day to appeal to families with children of all ages and expects a large crowd.

“After the huge success of last year’s first ever Chad Family Fun Day, we have decided to make this year’s event bigger and better,” Nathan Corden, head of commercial development at Southwell Racecourse, said this week.

As well as designated play and picnic areas, there will be a range of other entertainment for youngsters of all ages.

The family fun will include a bouncy castle, gladiator duel, bouncy boxing, a penalty shoot out for those with more energy to burn and a circus workshop and bungee run for the extra adventurous.

An unlimited Candy Floss stall is also likely to be a hit with many visitors and the special guest for the day will be ever-popular cartoon hero Scooby Doo.

After the afternoon’s racing is complete, there will also be live entertainment for families from the Take That Experience.

Nathan said: “This year, we have an outdoor stage which will host a Take That tribute band immediately after racing so customers can relax, listen to the music and enjoy our facilities.

“I’m sure Scooby-Doo will be a big hit with all age groups and I’m sure there will be plenty of adults who remember his cartoons when they were young.

“Nothing delights us more than to see families coming to discover the racecourse and enjoy a day of play and fun.

“The course is a wonderfully green and open environment, especially on a bright summer’s afternoon.

“All the entertainment is offered free of charge to accompanied children under 18 and adult tickets are available from just £12 per person.

“Of course that entry fee also includes access to the enclosures so that parents and children can also experience the thrills of the racing itself.

“Picnickers are very welcome in our designated area but parents can also take advantage of all our food outlets that will open for the event.”

Gates for the Family Fun Day will open to punters at 12 noon.
