EMAS chief is replaced by ex-nurse

He has been replaced by former nurse Pauline Tagg, an ex-director of nursing at University Hospitals of Leicester.

Mrs Tagg, who joined the EMAS board in 2011 as a non-executive director, said; “Jon has worked hard with the interests of frontline staff and services at his heart.

“I am pleased to be taking on the role of chairman, working with our dedicated staff to deliver improvements and give the very best clinical care to people in the East Midlands.”

Mrs Tagg was awarded the MBE in 2009 for services to Healthcare in Leicester. In particular she was successful in reducing healthcare acquired infections in the county’s hospitals.

Before joining the EMAS board she was also a non-executive director for Leicestershire and Rutland Primary Care Trust from 2009.

The service has been a regular news item this year. Most noticeably when it put forward proposals which would see nine new hubs created, 19 ambulance stations, and 108 ‘community ambulance stations’.

The plans were entitled Being The Best.

EMAS chief executive of the trust board, Phil Milligan, said at the time: “This programme sets out how we will improve response times across the East Midlands and provide the right care.”
