EIGHT football fans will appear before magistrates today in connection with trouble that flared up during Mansfield Town s clash against Luton at Field Mill on Saturday.

Police were forced to make a number of arrests when trouble broke out inside Field Mill as Stags romped to a 4-1 victory.

Officers say supporters were successfully escorted to the ground without any problems, but the game was marred by a number of crowd incidents mainly involving Luton fans.

Two police officers needed hospital treatment after being hit by missiles thrown between rival supporters.

One Mansfield Woodhouse man, five from Luton and one from Dunstable will appear at Mansfield Magistrates Court today charged with public order offences.
