Edwinstowe artists chosen for city’s Magna Carta celebrations

An Edwinstowe artist has been chosen to paint one of 25 ‘barons’ to mark Lincoln’s Great Magna Carta celebrations this summer.

Peter Annable will work his magic on the St Mark’s Shopping Centre baron. Inspired by the St Mark’s train station history, he plans to paint the front of the baron as a station master, with the back of the design to portray a steam train scene.

The Baron Trail will commemorate the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta, one of the most famous documents in the world.

Sealed by King John in 1215 and under pressure from 25 rebellious barons, the Magna Carta established for the first time that everyone, including the king, had to obey the law.
