Fundraisers got themselves in a flap at the weekend as a charity duck race got underway in Mansfield.
Organised by Samworth Church Academy, the day at Titchfield Park involved 1,000 plastic yellow ducks being tipped into the stream for a day of racing.
With people sponsoring the wingless wonders prior to the race, and more than 20 businesses donating prizes for a raffle, around £2,540 was raised.
Ian James, vice principal at the Sherwood Hall Road school, said: “It was a fabulous afternoon and was attended by approximately 400 people.”
Thanking all those who donated prizes and sponsored the ducks, he said the money will be split between Mansfield-based charity Jigsaw, and the ‘Student Opportunities Fund’ at the school which ensures all pupils can gain access to the extra curricular activities.
