Posters designed by three children from Mansfield’s High Oakham Primary School are being used as part of a campaign to drive home the call for dog owners to be responsible.
Lottie Bowers, aged 10, Harrison Mercer, aged five, and Ellie May Price, aged six, have been named as the winners of a poster competition organised by Mansfield District Council, which saw entries from more than 400 youngsters.
The authority is running an initiative called Your Dog, Your Responsibility, which provides dog owners information on issues such as dog fouling, micro-chipping, excessive barking, neutering and control.
Councillor Mick Barton, portfolio holder for public protection said: “By educating children, we hope they will become responsible dog owners of the future and raise awareness in the district.
“The campaign is part of the council’s determined efforts to put a stop to nuisance dog owners.”
The posters will be placed in dog fouling hotspot areas around the district, including all parks and open spaces. They will also be made in to stickers for people to place in their windows at home. Visit www.mansfield.gov.uk
