East Midlanders are quiet reserved and introverted, new research shows
The Big Personality Test - the largest study ever conducted into different regional personalities in the UK certainly paints a subdued picture of Nottinghamshire folk.
More than 400,00 people took part in the online survey in 380 local authorities across the country.

The survey was conducted by Cambridge University and the BBC’s Lab UK project, with the results published in the journal PLOS ONE.
London comes out very high for people who are extroverts - which means they are social and energetic - along with those in parts of south and south-east England, Yorkshire, Manchester and areas of Scotland.
By contrast, rather the opposite is seen in the east Midlands, Wales, Humberside, the North of England, and areas in east Scotland, where personalities are seen to be “quiet, reserved, and introverted”, according to the survey.

People in the Midlands also tended to describe themselves as conscientious, a trait shared with Southern England and the Scottish Highlands.
The paper suggests high levels of neuroticism in the Midlands, in common with Wales, with large proportions of residents “comparatively anxious, depressed, and temperamental”
Do you recognise these characteristics in yourself or the East Midlands as a whole?
