Two members of Portland College staff signed up to strength-sapping challenge, and helped raise much-needed cash for a good cause.
Wayne Fearn and Gavin Booth, raced through acres of woodland by foot and bike as part of the Nottingham Off-Road Duathlon.
It was the first time they had taken part in such an event and spent weeks in training.
Wayne said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of the duathlon but found it extremely tough.”
They are still counting the cash which will go towards Portland’s College £2m sports academy appeal, to allow disabled students to access top-class facilities for training.
