Driving instructors motor for charities

Three driving instructors from the Mansfield area will be taking part in a national charity fundraiser to raise cash for children’s charities.

Martin Shepherd from Bill Plant, Mark Eastwood from Let’s Drive and Natalie Chadbourne from Can Drive motoring schools will be taking part in the Big Learner Relay as part of a countrywide fundraising drive for Children in Need.

The trio hope to complete the Nottinghamshire leg of the relay - which will take in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland - on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th November.

They will pick up the gauntlet at 7pm at the Asda store in Forest Town and take up the final stage of the day to Daybrook.

On Thursday 6th the relay will travel onto East Midlands Parkway on the Leicestershire borders, then out through East Anglia and down to London.

Martin told Chad: “I’ve done charity events before and this is for a really good cause. We need to support our young people so in years to come they do the same. That’s how it works.”

Organisers hope the relay will raise at least £5,000 for the fundraising drive but Martin and Mark say they hope to raise more.

“We already have pledges of more than £400 just for the Mansfield area,” Martin added.
