Driver not jailed for third drink conviction

A Mansfield Woodhouse man has been spared jail after being caught drink driving for the third time.

Ashley James Allsopp, 29, of Sandringham Road, was stopped by police on 3rd November driving erratically while returning from a friend’s house, Mansfield Magistrates’ Court heard.

The court heard that Allsopp had two previous convictions for drink driving and was warned that he could face jail.

But defence lawyers told the court that Allsopp had turned to drink after the recent break-up of his marriage and that he was suffering from depression.

He was given a 12-month supervision order, told to complete 10 alcohol rehabilitation sessions, and banned from driving for three years.
