Josh David Wardle, 19, of St Mary’s Drive, Edwinstowe, was already banned from the road when police recognised him on the morning of November 25.

When the officers activated their blue lights, Wardle appeared to accelerate away from the pursuing car on Rufford Road.

He eventually dumped the vechicle in a pub car park and ran off, leaving his partner’s child in a babyseat in the back of the Citroen Saxo.

Appearing at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court, he admitted a charge of driving while disqualified, using a vehicle without insurance and failing to stop.

Mitigating, David Grant said: “The defendant’s partner was ill, it was her car and she asked him to make sure her child got to nursery.

“He foolishly agreed to do it, and he panicked (when the police tried to stop him).”

The magistrates asked for a report to be provided by the probation service.

They later returned to ask for an adjournment after saying a psychiatric report was required.

He was bailed to appear next Wednesday, December 23.
