Drink-driver on his phone when he crashed

A motorist who was almost three times over the drink-drive limit and was on his phone when he smashed into a parked vehicle was given 80 hours community service.

Rajan Nazran, 23, of Heath Avenue, Mansfield, also had a bag of cocaine in his possession.

He smashed his blue Fiat Ducato into a vehicle parked on Buttery Lane, Skegby, while on a delivery for work.

He denied he had been drinking, but was breathalysed when police turned up and was found to have 93 mcgs of alcohol in 100 mls of breath. The legal limit is 35 mcgs.

Admitting a charge of drink-driving, using a handheld phone while driving and possession of class A drugs, he was also banned from the road for two years, and made to pay £325 in costs.
