A motorist who was slumped over his steering wheel and fell onto the floor when police opened his car door has been banned for drink driving.

Daniel Ryfa (24) had been drinking in Mansfield town centre when he decided to drive home to Nottingham.

He was found stationary in a turn-left lane on the Nottingham Road, with his engine running and lights still on.

The unemployed man was found to have 62 mcgs in 100 mls of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs. Admitting the charge, and driving without a licence and insurance, he did not have a legal advisor at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court, and gave no mitigation for his actions, saying: “I have no excuse.”

He was banned from driving for 18 months and told to pay £255 in fines and costs.
