Download success for Adelphia

A Nottinghamshire band which formed two years ago are celebrating after beating off competition from around the UK for the chance to appear at the Download Festival later this year.

Adelphia will be performing at the annual Heavy Metal festival at Castle Donington, in Leicestershire, after reaching the final eight in the national competition - organised by Download and the Red Bull Studios in London.

The band formed in 2012 and have built a significant following with their alternative rock sound, recently releasing an EP and performing at the Rock City Hit the Deck Festival.

A total of 100 bands were originally shortlisted for the prestigious competition and Adelphia were invited, along with 14 other acts to attend a recording session at the Red Bull Studios.

From those 15, a total of eight were selected to perform at the festival, which runs from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th June, where a special prize will be awarded to the overall winner.

They will join the likes of Status Quo, Linkin Park and The Offspring at the festival, which attracts rock fans from around the UK and beyond.

Adelphia are made up of Nicholas Crampton, Jordan Wood, Rik Gilbert, and Sutton-based Jay Sanderson.
