Mr Robinson, who was a miner at Ollerton Colliery until 1985, had a new wetroom installed in his home by Newark and Sherwood Homes in 2015.

After a new toilet on a raised platform was installed, Mr Robinson noticed that it had started to leak.

After contacting Newark and Sherwood Homes, he was told he would have to pay for any repairs himself.

"The wetroom was installed as I fell out of the bath 4 times, they took the bath out and put a shower in.

"Now, I have been told that because I've had the wetroom installed, I've got to pay for any repairs myself.

"I'm sick of buying cleaning things to try and clean it up, but it just keeps leaking and leaving more stains.

"It's a sanitary issue."

Mr Robinson has paid £270 to have a screen door installed in his shower, as he is unsteady on his feet due to having no kneecap in his left knee.

When the wetroom was installed, the council hung a shower curtain which MR Robinson has fallen through.

He added: "The sliding door was £270, which I had put in myself I fell twice through the shower curtain, I caught the corner of the cabinet and cut myself.

"I don't think its alright at all, they keep fobbing me off when I ask for help.

"I've worked for every penny I've got, I wouldn't ever ask for money, and I'll be independent until the day I die."

Mr Robinson added that council staff have been out to his home to assess the situation three times, and a joiner has come out to take pictures of the damage, but still nothing is being done.

A spokesperson from Newark and Sherwood Homes said: “We have been in touch with Mr Robinson and arranged to meet and work with him to resolve any outstanding issues.”
